Oscar De La Renta Cruise 2009 Collection

The Cruise 2009 Collection of Oscar de la Renta is composed of 66 sophisticated wardrobe and was presented with elegance and style in a serene setting of cherry blossoms on white washed trees.

The collection include a number of stunning lace and silk dresses, crisp separates and grownup trousers with kaleidoscope of colors of corals, blues, pinks, yellows, emeralds and corals. At first glance, I thought I am viewing a Christmas collection. Everyone was surprised to see the mix of equestrian hats or the riding hats with a couple of the looks. The climax of the runway show was de la Renta's exhibition of voluminous gowns that quite literally had a five foot radius.

Cruise 2009 Collection: Christian Dior

Christian Dior's John Galliano presented a brightly themed Cruise 2009 collection last week. He successfully pulled a colorful show that unites different elements of color, style, detail and fabrics that reflects the 60's trends with a Mexican twist.

The collection include pleated skirts, flouncy off-the-shoulder tops and of course, colorful sombreros that were so chic. Galliano's evening gowns came with full skirts, tiered layers, bows and embellished necklines. Tunics, capri pants, perfect suits, psychedelic prints, silk shantung, oversized costume jewelry arrived in Starburst colors.

As for the accessories, the designer used platform wedges and destined-to-be-the-next-It-bag Dior hobos that were fanciful and colorful.

Fashion Fuchsia: Hollywood's Fashion Color

Fashion fuchsia is often used in the fashion world, popularly used as color for clothing, shoes, and accessories. It is also one of the most consistently talked about color trends of the season. Way back in 1920's, Fashion fuchsia was known as Hollywood and in 1950's it was renamed Hollywood Cerise.

You want to own some fashionable Fashion Fuchsia items? Checkout the following items that can be bought from Net-a-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman & Victoria's Secret online stores. Thanks to Fashion Trendsetter for organizing these items, featuring my favorite Victoria's Secret Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio.

Victoria Beckham is putting up some spice to Marc Jacobs' skin cancer awareness campaigns that aims to warn people of the dangers of excessive sun exposure. Posh has signed up to pose nude for the said project.

Last year the project raised £30,000 for charity, with Naomi Campbell and Julianne Moore fronting the campaign.

The shirts, which have been signed by the star, will be on sale from next week. Here's a photo of David Beckham wearing the shirt last Tuesday in Brazil.

2008 Spring/Summer Trends

This January, there were lots of new fashion trends and predictions for spring/summer 2008. As I wander around the WWW, I was able to find these fashion trends and predictions that will possibly hit the fashion world in the next few days.

    InterSélection

    SPORTY - CHIC
The positive influence of sport revitalizes the codes of urban chic. The functional wardrobe, technical fabrics and details with an «active sport» connotation come into play for very cool fashion. Pale neutrals, dirty or refreshed pastels, to mix together, to disrupt with bright and unexpected accents. Scroopy hands, nylons and light cottons. «Cheap silky fabrics», plain weave silk, viscose twills. Shirting, solid and striped poplins, end-and end, oxfords, chambrays. Satins again and again! Fleece, terries, stretch fluid or chiné jerseys. Continuation of knits in bamboo and soybean, and organic cotton.

    ETHNO - MIX
Culture of paradox, play of contrasts, new aesthetic rules. Heritage resources are drawn on to embellish and dream up a modern and effortless wardrobe. Unostentatiously sumptuous, floral colors evoke the exoticism and magic of dyes. Contrasting harmonies or faux monochromes are neutralized with faded tones. Light silky fabrics, taffetas, crêpes de Chine, satins. Glossy cottons, cotton sateen. Soft casual wear, heavy canvas, softened washed basket weave cottons, ring spun denim. Linen, hemp, textured rather than rustic! Oversize decoration. Japanese-style florals, plant landscapes, tattoos, bou-bou patterns, Madras checks, knit jacquards with stripe and basketwork motifs.

    H&M

H&M's designers have created a beautiful collection with Marimekko's popular patterns from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s for the summer 2008. The collection of some 50 products will be sold in H&M's stores on all 28 markets from April 2008.

The collection, which has a graphic overall look, will comprise airy summer favorites such as wide 70s dresses, tunics, skirts and shorts for women. For men there will be classic summer shirts and shorts. There will be some items for children as well and all comes with accessories to match.
